dowhatyoucankris: Wow.  It’s official.  I got CENSORED today.   I was painting this mural/installation from my Homerotica series that I started a while back and some asshole who lives above this floor got offended and when we left the venue last night, he came in and painted over my piece.  Keep in mind this was on 4 walls (not pictured), top to bottom.     I got a call to come and meet about the show, and then when I walked in, everyone had a different look on their face.  Ryan then pointed to the corner where I was painting this, and instead of this, it was just a BIG BLANK WHITE WALL.   I was so blown away that I couldn’t say anything.  All I knew is that I wanted to beat the asshole who painted over my installation. The Delicious Vinyl & Freak City crew (who i’m working with on the show) met with the landlord & the asshole who buffed over my art, furious, upset and demanding some sort of justice & compensation.  Nothing came out of it other than the asshole who painted over my piece saying he was offended and then tried to apologize to the guys. But no one cared at what he wanted to say & all the guys demanded that he stay away from us and not go anywhere near anything.  Luckily I wasn’t there, or I would have punched his face in.  Also, knowing that I had a bunch of great people who had my back (thanks DV crew, Freak City crew & the Boys of Summer) to fight for me while I was at work not knowing about this was great.  I’m glad they didn’t call me during the day while I was at work or even while I was driving there.  Who knows what kind of state I would’ve been. The thing I was most blown away from was the fact that someone would actually be crazy enough to come up to a stranger, tell him to his face that his art sucked (which happened the night before) and then the day after come in and paint over it when the artist (me) wasn’t around.   This just reminds me of how crazy/stupid people can be and that there is nothing you can do about it, because no matter how much you tell them what they are doing is wrong, they will never understand.   I guess all I could do is move on.   Also I have the option to say, “Fuck all this” and not finish the show, leave it blank and do something else.  Another option would be to find this guy and beat his face in.  But I think the one (empowering?) option I want to take is to re-paint all this, and more.  Now that he is out of the picture (supposedly) and won’t interrupt anymore, I think i’m gonna just do this again, and just do the whole 3rd floor of that place (not pictured, but it’s about 7 times the size of the picture above).   Rather than ducking out and doing nothing, leaving the walls blank and that asshole succeeding at what he wanted, or rather than resulting to violence, I think i’m going to do the better thing.  The day before the show, or maybe the morning of, i think i’m gonna go in with my bucket of paint and my brush and paint every single inch of that place with more Homer & more dicks & balls until there’s nothing left.   That will be the best thing to do.   xoxo Kristofferson p.s.  Wish me luck & I hope to see you there this Saturday (6363 Hollywood Blvd. 7pm.)
